Vintage Pinehurst Golf Poster Art Deco 1920s Golf Town USA Donald Ross Era
16 x 24"
Golf Town U.S.A. captures the ambiance of Pinehurst's first golden era. The graphics capture the timeless elegance of 1920’s tournament golf — a lone golfer posed at the top of his follow-through, in knickerbockers and tweed cap, while a gallery of straw-hatted spectators looks on in reverent silence. The majestic sweep of the view arcs against a Carolina blue sky, the stately clubhouse visible in the distance beneath the longleaf pines — a scene that could only be Pinehurst.
An early box camera on a tripod records the moment, a reminder that this was a time when golf was becoming America's game and Pinehurst its cathedral. The muted, painterly palette — dusty blues, warm tans, and deep greens — gives the image the feel of a vintage travel poster, the kind that once beckoned well-heeled sportsmen to the Sandhills of North Carolina. Bold red lettering anchors the composition top and bottom: Village of Pinehurst above, Golf Town U.S.A. below — simple, confident, iconic.
A wonderful piece for the golf enthusiast, the sports art collector, or anyone with a love of Americana and the history of the game.
